Love is Love ...
After Launching the business in a July earlier this year I attended the Barry Business Club monthly meeting. I was greeted by Hannah (not me) who produces the Barry Magazine and asked would I be interested in having a stall at Barry's first Pride event. No clue what to expect and I applied within a few weeks, and OMG was glad I did. The event itself embraced Pride with the entire Barry & Vale of Glamorgan community coming alive with colour to celebrate this event.
Everybody needs good Neighbours ...
This was the 1st stall I had ever run and I literally made so many wax-melt and candles I was seeing them in my sleep it was crazy. But reflecting now this was all learning for me and I wanted to be prepared for everything.
We had t-shirts printed and banners made from Vinylzed in Barry. They are a local printers in Barry and as we were sharing a stall together it made perfect sense to use them for my advertising. It is such a small world as I known the owners quite well through my main Job in the NHS, and to be honest was nice to know a friendly face at the event.
I Heart Pride ....
I wanted to create a wax melt that represented the event, so the Pride Heart melt was created using the 6 Pride colours from the flag.
Yellow - Sunshine
Orange - Healing
Green - Nature
Blue - Harmony
Purple - Spirit
When West meets South ...
Asking Ceri to help me out on the stall with me honestly meant so much she is not only my girlfriend but also one of my biggest supporters with my business and helps so much. So it was only right to have her with me on the stall at an event where we felt comfortable being who we are. We are both very lucky to have very supportive families and with my mum on hand to help and Ceri's parents making the trip from West Wales to support us was amazing and we are so grateful.
Be ready in 5 ...
Arriving at the stall to set up car packed Ceri and Mum on hand to help me set up and run the stall. Setting up was definitely an experience I did take a bit longer I definitely put way to much on the table but I wanted to display as much as I possibly could. The day to be honest flew by I was running on coffee and adrenaline due to all the hype and excitement surrounding the event. It took me as whole day to eat one sandwich and anyone who knows me would definitely say that is not like me, I'm a girl who loves her food!
Nature Calls ...
I was located up the top end of High Street, I was so thankfully as House of Cocoa's my amazing tan, nails and hair salon was a stone throw away and they were so kind on coming down to support me and also allowing me to use their toilet facilities. It is crazy how I just don't think of these things but honestly it was a god send thanks to the girls.
Cake or Wax Melt ...
Being away from the computer and meeting real customers and seeing their faces when sniffing the wax melts and candles was so nice to see and just getting face to face feed back. I do think some people through the wax melts were cakes as when packing up we did discover teeth marks in one of the melts ... yes teethmarks lol!
But all in all my first stall was a fantastic experience and honestly could not wait to do my next stall. Thank you to The Barry Pride team who organised an amazing event. I do hope this is the first Pride of many in Barry.
